Shanghai- The Place of Pollution
Shanghai is the basis of China's economy and is home to about 24 million people. However is lacking in one of the resources necessary to sustain life: clean air. With an AQI (Air Quality Index) rating of "Moderate" to "Dangerous", is not ideal for holding about 25% of the Chinese population. It has a river cutting right through the capital named the Huangpu River (A tributary of the Yangtze River) which is also quite polluted due to external sources. The slideshow above shows the visible degrading of air quality over the duration of the last four decades.
